Face to Face. Real People. Real life.

Why You’re 10 Times Better off Meeting your Date in Person First!

Research has concluded that if you want to be in a relationship with someone you’re more likely to be successful meeting people face to face rather than searching for them online.

The research followed more than 10,000 speed daters and 20,000 online daters.

Nothing compares to the real thing! You’re are better in the flesh.

Why are face-to-face meetings more successful than online dating?

Part of the problem seems to be the absence of any real feeling created from body language, voice inflection or eye contact, in online dating interactions.  This makes it all too easy to dismiss someone for trivial things you’d like in a partner, such as not playing polo, for example. Although ‘ticking the boxes’ is important it’s also crucial to know the answer to the simple question, does he or she make my pulse beat faster!

“Customers of online dating services typically end up going out with fewer than 1 percent of the people whose profiles they study online. But something very different happens at a speed-dating event. The average participant makes a match with at least 1 in 10 of the people they meet; some studies have found the average is 2 or 3 out of 10.” Says John Tierney of the New York Times

“Our facial expression, physical gestures, and the emotional tone in our voice alter the meaning of our words, which is why it is very difficult to express ourselves fully and authentically in an email or text-or even in front of a Skype screen. So when we forego face-to-face encounters in favor of screen-speak or emailed or texted words, our friends receive only a partial message. What’s missing are the feelings that inform the words.” Says to Psychologist Dr Ana Nogales.  She goes on to point out that eye contact is not as palpable on screen, even on video.

It seems that research has shown us what our instincts already knew; meeting in person is the only way to really know what someone is like!

Try network dating now, it only takes a minute to see what dates (in pairs or groups) are happening near you!
